If you love Snickers....

If you love Snickers then you'll love this Snickers Pie. My cousin Vicky made this pie for me several years ago, and it is one of my favorite pies! (Second only to Nicholas' Apple Pie that he makes me for my birthday). If you love Snickers you MUST try this recipe! It is simple to make, and the recipes makes two pies....so make one for that party you are going to, and save the second pie for yourself ;)

snow day!

it's been a while since I left teaching, but i still get excited about a really good snow day...the kind of snow day that makes the roads impassable and force the schools to close down. all five of us are home today enjoying each others company...we had a big pancake breakfast (except for michael who just isn't a breakfast fan...he had a hoagie), and then took the kids out to sled ride in the back yard. sam is not a huge fan of the snow, but it could've been because his snow suit made it hard for him to walk and his mittens made it impossible to have any control over his fingers. max and ella though are big fans of sledding! this year we bought a new sled, the baby sled just wasn't cutting anymore, so ella and max were able to sled together down the hill...no more waiting for a slow sibling to walk back up the hill with the sled. it's a good day to cuddle by a fire. enjoy!

clementine! we are a little clementine crazy here. ella and i bought a crate of the delish fruits on monday and we have been eating them morning noon and night since! yummy!

a boy and his bed

well...it's official, max is growing up :( last night max made the transition from toddler bed to big boy bed. he looked so little in that great big twin bed. it made me just a little bit sad. my babies are growing up. max won't even allow me to call him "baby" anymore. he is my big boy.

he was so very excited about his big boy bed...and new sheets too! he has two sets of "alaska" sheets now...a flannel set for these cold nights, and then an embroidered set from grandma for when it warms up a little.

a new adventure!

in the past few months i have become fascinated with blogs. what a cool way to keep in touch with all the important people in your lives. michael and i are starting this online journal as a way to tell you about the little things in our lives...mostly about our most important little things...ella, max and sam. we are using our blog as a way to share pictures, sweet stories, favorite recipes, crazy adventures, cool gadgets we find, tales of exploration and much more. we even hope to have ella contribute to our chronicles as she journeys through school learning how to read and write and express herself creatively. so stay tuned and check back often!
