just me and my sam

sam and i spent the afternoon together on saturday...just the two of us.

sew busy

i am slowly teaching myself how to sew with a machine....in the past week i've made three new skirts for ella and a pair of pirate pajama shorts for max

april showers bring...

i love the flowers in our yard...the fuschia reminds me of ballinskelligs, the beautiful tulips came from the zoo's display last summer, and i have always had a thing for lilacs (and lillies of the valley...still need to get some of those!). now i am waiting with baited breath for the rosebush to bloom!

hoppy easter!

we reduced reused and recycled this easter....we used last year's eggs, bought the boys' outfits at a consignment shop and eleanor is wearing a vintage polly flinders dress circa 1980something. check out katie hammons wearing the dress oh so long ago, and fyi - we had to have the hem taken out for ella to wear it.

Earth Hour 2009

How did you spend Earth Hour on Saturday? We cheated and started our hour a bit early, so the kids would be awake for the entire hour and feel the impact of life without electricity. The kids entertained us with puppets shows (with puppets that the hammons kids played with so long ago) and songs & dances. And then we played hot & cold and told stories. Sam enjoyed having the opportunity to play with every flashlight and lantern we own. It ended up being a very fun learning experience. And I have been much better about flipping off unused lights this week.
