Old West Festival - GIVEAWAY ~ CLOSED

The Old West Festival Giveaway is now closed...congrats to our winner, the PumpkinLady!  And I hope you all come back and check out the blog in the future...we'll have more fun giveaways and more tasty recipes coming your way!
PS...if you didn't win tickets be sure to "Like" The Old West Festival page on facebook, they are always sharing specials & deals and advertising giveaways, so try your luck with them!

It's that time of year again...time to step back in time with a trip to the Old West Festival.  I am excited to partner with the sheriffs over at Old West Festival to give one very special reader a FREE family four pack of tickets to the festival.
If you are sitting there scratching your head wondering what the festival is, let me quote their press release to tell you more:
Strap on your boots and mosey on out to a place where scenes out of a John Wayne western come alive as the Old West Festival returns to its permanent site just 15 minutes from I-275, east of Cincinnati. The fourth annual Old West Festival – running weekends September 10 to October 9 – transports visitors back in time to a Dodge City Wild West town circa 1878.  The Festival is located at 1449 Greenbush Cobb Rd between Mt. Orab and Williamsburg, Ohio just off St. Rt. 32. For more information, please visit www.oldwestfestival.com or call 1-866-WEST-FES (1-866-937-8337). Old West Festival is also on Twitter and Facebook.

While you are there you can experience a covered wagon ride, drink sarsaparilla, watch the cancan dancers, see a gun-fight re-enacted, listen to old timey music, visit the general store or the old fashioned candy shop, participate in a costume contest, pan for gold, ride ponies, see the Pickled Brothers Circus, and much much more!  I cannot wait to take the kids.  We missed out on all the fun last year because of a very busy fall, so we've been looking forward to this all year.

And you can take the family for FREE if you win this contest!  (If you don't happen to win though, the tickets are very affordable!)

Here's the deal - I have one family four pack of tickets to give away to one lucky winner.  Each person can enter TWICE (see details below).  BE SURE TO LEAVE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION!  If the winner does not respond within 48 hours another winner will be chosen.  I announce the winner here on this post, but I will also attempt to email you if you leave contact information.  The winner will be chosen on Wednesday, August 31st at 2pm using Random.org.

How to Enter:
1.  For your first entry, leave a comment telling me why your family wants to win these tickets.
2.  For a bonus entry, tell your friends about this contest and "LIKE" Old West Festival & the little things blog on facebook.  Leave a 2nd comment below telling me that you did these things, and that will be your bonus entry.

Disclaimer - My family received tickets to go to the Old West Festival along with the tickets I was given for the giveaway.  Thanks to our friends at OWF!

I would love to take the girls here. We have never been before. We checked out a book from the library this summer about 101 things you should see before your 12 and this was one of them, how cool is that

You know it looks interesting when even the husband wants to go! He saw a booklet for tonight and picked it up.

We love the Pickled Brothers! Travis and his wife Susan are our neighbors (I worked with her for years), and it's always fun seeing him perform. This entire event sounds like so much fun!

I've lived in towns named Cody, Cheyenne, Buffalo, Spotted Horse. Slept in the Big Horn Mts, been chased by a Bear, panned gold in the Black Hills (still have my own pan)shot Prairie Dogs and Rattle Snakes, owned my own six shooters, real cowboy boots and spurs, spent up to a week alone with a horse, branded doggies. I've rolled my own smokes(Bull Durham tobacco)while riding a horse, used a real spittoon, drank water from my cowboy hat dipped from a mountain stream. I've slept in a bunk house with a sod roof and a pot bellied wood stove and a hitching rail out front. My family don't believe most of my stories. What can you do to help convince them how Cowboys really lived?

Avery would be in heaven! She's reading the Little House in the Big Woods series now, so I can only imagine the look on her face to see the words of her current favorite books come to life in the festival!
