today was my birthday. if you've been following this blog for more than a year or if you know me well you will know that i like to celebrate my birthday all week long. i'm a bit of a princess when it comes to my birthday. and there is no shame in that. i'm not in it for the gifts (well, more on this later, the gifts are awesome), i'm mostly in it for the celebration and fun! this week i've enjoyed a girls night out and a date night with good friends. and then today i started the day with farm fresh scrambled eggs & homemade multi-grain toast. then i went for a long walk in a cemetery with henry and my daddio. then i joined my sibs for a delicious lunch at myra's dionysus (and perhaps an afternoon cocktail on the veranda). this evening i got to avoid dishes and cooking by packing up the fam and heading for mi tierra. i did get some fabulous gifts this week...a new tele-photo zoom lens for my camera, hand-made cards from the kids, a yellow feather from a sweet little girl, and eclairs from her baking wiz mama. I also got an awesome cupcake carrier and Sam made me a bionicle today. the best gift though was ella being chosen to take part in a leadership conference this summer! so proud of my girl!
old st. mary's cemetery
ella rose's namesake
root beer!
lunch...a pesto pita & edamame
quality uncle johnny time
coolest birthday card ever
and oh yeah, i made my children sing for their dessert tonight. it's my birthday and i make the rules!

LOVE it all!!!!! I agree..no shame in celebrating your own birthday..I like to make a big deal out of birthdays too..it's only one little day out of 365!! Everyone should feel like the most important person in the world on their special day! Glad you had a good one!! Can't wait to see what you do with that yellow feather?!! :)
So sweet! Happy birthday. Sounds like you had a wonderful day. Anna introduced me to Myra's and I must admit I've fallen in love with the place. It's right near my work, so I might have to stop by for lunch tomorrow. ;) And you should make the kids sing for their dessert every night. Too cute!
Love it! Happy (late --wait it's not late if you celebrate all week long) Birthday. My kids sing "cha cha cha" too in their happy birthday song:)
Thanks Ladies!
@Phyllis...I'm still celebrating, so you are not late!! My kids just added the cha cha cha this year, too cute.
@Kimberly, I have not eaten at Myra's in ages, but after eating there this week I want to go back over and over again!
@Micaela...that feather was such a special gift! It's still in my van visor, I'm waiting for inspiration for what to do with it...it could adorn a derby hat?
